Termite inspections

Make sure your biggest investment is free of timber destroying pests. Regular insurance policies do not cover termite damage. All our inspections are carried out to Australian Standard  AS4349.3-2010.

Termites are not ants, ( although once called white ants ) they are a destructive timber pest which can severely damage the structure of your home.  Ants have three distinct body sections, head, thorax, abdomen, whereas termites only have less obvious head and abdomen.

Australian Standard AS4349.3-2010 recommends properties be inspected every 12 months (6 months in high risk areas) to minimise damage before treatment.

Termites usually need to maintain contact with the ground for moisture and therefore construct mud tunnels to protect themselves while travelling from their nest to a food source (your home, shed fence etc.).

Do not disturb termites or spray them with aerosols. If you move something and see termites put the object back immediately and ring us on  9899 7260 if you attempt a treatment yourself you could cause them to abandon that area and attack another section of the structure extending the time taken to eradicate the colony.

Our inspections are thorough and include the following areas as well as any other areas specific to your property.

  • Interior of the building (s) including any garages, sheds, outbuildings etc.
  • Sub floor areas
  • Roof space
  • Exterior
  • Grounds of property (up to 50m) including fences, timber retaining walls, decks and trees.

Our inspection report will detail any findings of timber pests (termites, wood rot and borers), any damage found, recommendations of remedial measures, areas likely to attract termites in the future, degree of risk to the overall property and other essential information about your property.

Inspection with Moisture meter

As always, early detection is the key. Have regular inspection every 6-12 months (depending on your home) and if termites are found, have them treated before the cost of replacing building materials soars.

Poor sub floor ventilation can also attract termites as well as allow mould to grow which rots floor boards. Livermore & Son are also Sydney’s longest established sub floor ventilation installers. Please visit our Sub floor ventilation site for more information on our systems.
